   Proposal Description:
   Many researchers have explored the connection between depression and cognitive functioning in older adults with executive functions being a recent focus.  However, few have distinguished between the effects of different depression symptoms or have accounted for vascular risk factors. This topic is further complicated by the possibility that depression may be an initial sign of dementia in some individuals. The objective of this study is to determine which depression symptoms have the greatest impact on executive functioning and processing speed in older adults after accounting for vascular risk factors and dementia.
